Hard to believe, but it's already been a month since we arrived in the UAE and I can't believe how much has happened and how much we have accomplished / learned in such a short time! School started for us (students arrived) on the 14th of September due to the timing of Ramadan this year and the Eid holiday that follows it. All three of us really love the school we are at - but no one more than Molly! Her first day of Kindergarten was the 'greatest day of her life' she told us and she is up and ready to go in the morning like never before...I know this won't last, but we are going to enjoy it until we reach the teenage years! Christine has a great KG2 class, but she says that about every class she has...but they are really great little troopers and she is loving every minute with them - as are they loving every minute they get to spend with her! I am doing well too - steep learning curve but I seem to be holding my own! lol I have a solid staff, a great admin team, and the school is a fantastic facility...there are lots of little things that we need to work on, but we will have the ship sailing smoothly in no time - or at least till the next storm hits! We have moved into our new villa in a community called "Al Reef" and really like it there. I will put up some pictures of it and the new villa in my next update. I finally broke down and bought a GPS for the car as I was tired of getting lost....I still get lost, but I can know just push a button and find my way home...and that's a good feeling! We have to travel to Oman on Thursday as our visitor visas run out and we do not have our paperwork here from the UAE Embassy in Canada yet - everything happens when it happens over here and you either learn to go with the flow or the flow just kind of carries you away! It hasnt been easy, but I am learning to be a little more patient when it comes to waiting for things I need to happen to just happen already!!! I am getting more and more skilled at driving like a formula one racing car driver and can't wait till Christine decides to take a crack at it! The temperature is beginning to fall during the day and we definitely notice a difference when we wake up in the morning. Overnight it actually drops to around 28 or 29 degrees right now, but it does manage to climb back up to 40 during the day. Very soon, they say, the daytime temp will be between 24 and 27 degrees on average and will drop to 14 to 16 degrees at night - that's what they call winter here!!! Speaking of winter, we booked our flights home for Christmas this week...we will leave here on December 17th and will fly back from Edmonton on January 6th....looking forward to seeing all of our family and friends over the holidays. We are also trying to decide where we should go for our holiday break in November.....have it narrowed down to Seychelles, Jordan, or maybe Thailand....let you know! We should have internet and a phone at home by the end of the week so we will be back on Skype and able to update this blog more often!
